Following the completion of the Miller Youth Institute’s Fellowship for Undergraduates Program, students will have the opportunity to apply for funding that would allow them to return to their home communities (or another domestic or international context) to implement and practice what they learned over the course of the summer. Applicants will develop a research project—framed as a particular research question on a pressing social issue (e.g., poverty, racial justice, healthcare disparities, food insecurity, environmental degradation, or spiritual care and mental health)—that they will investigate over the course of an academic year.
Applicants will be required to identify a constellation of congregations, social agencies, and/or faith-based nonprofits that will help support this research for the duration of the project. Successful applicants will participate in an all-expenses paid two-day orientation on the PTS campus that will include a set of seminars, administered by SYI staff, that will prepare the students for the year-long process of action-research, writing, and congregational engagement.
Student who complete the SYI Fellowship for Undergraduates Program are eligible to apply for this funding. Contact SYI Director Dr. to learn more about the application process.
