A Mental Health First Aid Training Program

OVERVIEW
This program will provide participants with the tools they need to provide spiritual care to those
affected by mental illness more effectively and reduce the stigma associated with it in their faith
communities. Participants will also become certifed in Mental Health First Aid and create a
regional resource to aid appropriate referrals to services.
Session 1: Learn how to distinguish spiritual care from mental health services and where your
skill sets and responsibilities lie as a faith community leader;
Session 2: Become certifed in Mental Health First Aid (probably all day;TBD); and
Session 3: Collaborate on creating a mental health resource list and design a church-based
initiative to address mental illness in your community.
