Water remembers. Laundry forgets.
The Seminary's Metro-Urban Institute is joining forces with local arts, advocacy, and education organizations to present "Waterbearer," a lecture and vernacular performance Mon., April 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the Knox Room, Long Hall. This event is free and open to the public; ample parking is available.
Waterbearer is historical fiction written in lyrical prose with a collage that gathers fragments to represent an impression of what it means for African American women to do laundry.
Join us for a lecture by the author, Valerie Sweeney Price, and a dramatic reading directed by Beth Watkins of an excerpt from Waterbearer. Following the performance will be a brief discussion/presentation about the Larimer River Roots Community Well Project. And the Metro-Urban Institute will provide light refreshments.
Co-sponsoring organizations include The Walk River Roots Community Arts Project, Larimer Consensus Group, Artplace, Strong II Dry Cleaners, and Allegheny College.
