Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults. You’ll build skills and confidence you need to reach out and provide initial support to those who are struggling, and learn how to help connect them to appropriate support.

The Rev. Karen Slusser ’21 has served on the pastoral staff of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church (Allison Park, Pa.) since 2013. When she took mental health first aid training, she found it so helpful that she trained to become a certified instructor, in order to offer MHFA training in her local community. Karen hopes that Mental Health First Aid training will become as universal as physical First Aid and CPR training.
