Work Support Program

What is it?

The Work Support Program is a part-time on-campus job for students with financial need. The money is not directly applied to the Seminary account; instead the student will receive a paycheck at the end of each month worked. If the student chooses to participate in the program and is hired, the award shown is the maximum amount that can be earned as a Work Support employee.

Range of award: $8.25 per hour for a maximum of 10 hours each week: (for the 33 week academic year) $2,723 per academic year. Maintenance employees receive $9.25 per hour. The financial aid Award Letter will reflect a WSP dollar amount. The award shown is the maximum amount that a student is eligible to earn. There is no work-support funding during the summer months.

Who qualifies?

Only students enrolled for nine or more credits at PTS in the Master of Divinity, Master of Arts, and Master of Sacred Theology programs. Returning students must show academic progress and submit financial aid documentation each year.

How do I apply?

1. File a FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

2. Submit a PTS Financial Aid Application to the Financial Aid Office.

3. Submit the Verification Worksheet to the Financial Aid Office.

4. Submit the signed federal 1040 and copies of W2s to the Financial Aid Office.

Only complete application packets will be reviewed for Work Support eligibility.

The Work Support award does NOT guarantee a position.

Upon receiving the Award Letter from the Financial Aid Office, the student must log on to the PTS web site and submit an application. The student may submit one active job application at a time. The hiring supervisor may choose to contact the student for an interview. If the student is not hired, the Financial Aid Office will advise the student to submit a second application.

Jobs will be posted all year as positions become available.

How will I know if I am hired?

The application will be forwarded to the Supervisor along with a Hire/Not Hire Form. When the Supervisor returns the form to the Financial Aid Office, the student will be notified.

After a student is hired, the Financial Aid Office will forward a packet of employment forms to the student. Those completed forms and two types of identification must be presented at the Business Office within three days from the start of employment.
