Student Groups
Evangelical Student Fellowship (ESF) seeks to glorify God at PTS by providing opportunities for mutual support, fellowship, spiritual growth, and service. ESF hosts lunch meetings every Thursday, a day of prayer and fasting each term, an overnight retreat, and colloquia for professors to discuss their latest research or published work.

NIA (means Purpose in Swahili) provides a means whereby the Seminary acknowledges the full inclusion and diversity of Pan-American and International seminarians in our community. Through fellowship in Christ’s name, we host study and prayer groups, discussion groups with professors, and cultural awareness programs. NIA also partners with the Metro-Urban Institute at PTS and local agencies and ministries, which reach out to the local East End community.

Peace and Justice Fellowship works toward realizing God’s love in local, national, and global contexts through proclamation, education, and social action. PJF hosts monthly meetings, special movie nights, speakers and forums (recently discussing church unity and environmental theology), as well as, offering service opportunities to connect PTS with the East Liberty community. The organization also plays host to the Green Initiative which is actively working to promote green living at PTS.

Preaching Association provides local churches with student pulpit supply and, in turn, provides students with pulpits to gain experience in churches. E-mail the Preaching Association in order to become a part of its reference list.

Presbyterian Student Fellowship is an organization that provides support for Presbyterian students as they go through the ordination process. They host monthly meetings with discussion topics such as, Committee on Preparation for Ministry, General Assembly, searching for a calling, and other Presbyterian terminology.

Spouse2Spouse provides opportunities for fellowship for and support to married seminary students through social gatherings, Bible studies, and marriage enrichment events. Some events include outings to places around the city, marriage workshops and forums, holiday parties, and potluck meals. All campus-wide events will either include children or have provided childcare.

Sports and Rec Club (SRC) offers multiple opportunities for weekly exercise and fellowship. SRC organizes regular games of ultimate Frisbee, football, basketball, and deck hockey, as well as offers a walking club. They also take special trips for skiing and an annual PCUSA Seminary Frisbee tournament.

United Methodist Student Fellowship (UMSF) provides support and opportunities for Methodist students to come together in a Wesleyan ethos for fellowship, worship, and learning. They meet the second Thursday of every month over lunch.

PTS Journal is a student-led publication which edits and compiles PTS student and faculty submissions into the annual PTS Journal. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis. The yearly cut-off for publication is the start of Term 3.
