When: Thursday, August 26 at noon in the Lake Point Grove in Highland Park

In recent years, our quest for good food and fellowship (and a theme for the annual Piece Prize Competition) has taken us to Texas and Italy. This year, we’re really shaking things up and (in the footsteps of Bill Carl, Sharon Taylor, Scott Sunquist, and others) we’re going to CHINA! Well, at least we’ll be eating Chinese food, enjoying Chinese picnic décor (it's the year of the tiger), and participating in China - themed activities in order to determine the awarding of this year’s Piece Prize.

Newcomers (or those with poor memories) may be wondering about this “Piece Prize.” The prize itself is a piece of former Steeler Carlton Hasselrig’s transmission that he deposited on our campus when he took a wild jeep ride up the steps in front of the library in 1994. (It’s a long story…) A year later a trophy was created using the piece, and over the past years we have scavenger hunted, relay raced, obstacle coursed, trivial pursuited, croqueted, mini-golfed, bocci balled etc., our way to the thrill of victory or the agony of defeat in hopes of our department claiming the trophy for a year.

To get to the pavilion, turn right out of the Seminary driveway and make a right at the first light. Continue to follow this road and after lots of twists and turns you will find yourself in Highland Park. This pavilion is just across the street from the pond/lake. Watch for the balloons.
