2013 Miller Summer Youth Institute
We are still accepting applications for 2013!
July 6-20, 2013
Program Description
The Miller Summer Youth Institute gathers 25 rising high school seniors and rising college freshmen from across the country to participate in our two week program. The participants will live in the seminary’s residence hall along with the SYI staff made up of college and seminary students who are also SYI Alumni. The program is designed to form an intentional Christian community where young people can be challenged to move beyond their comfort zones in order to grow in faith, engage in academic theological study, explore ministry and learn about Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. In addition to times of study and reflection, you will have the chance to participate in outstanding recreation events, or shall we say, have fun! In 2013, we will spend time daily in recreation such as Ultimate Frisbee, going to the coffee shop, volleyball, and riding the coasters at Kennywood Park!
Program Cost
It is our pleasure on behalf of the Lilly Endowment Inc. and donors who support the seminary to offer full scholarships to all students accepted into the program. The scholarships cover tuition, room, board, and scheduled activities for the two weeks of the program. SYI participants provide their own transportation to and from Pittsburgh.
Accommodations
You'll stay on campus in Calian Residence Hall rooms with an adult supervisor overseeing small groups of participants.
Transportation
The scholar’s family and/or church and Presbytery must cover personal expenses and travel to and from Pittsburgh.
Meals
Most meals are provided on campus in the Seminary’s Kadel Dining Hall. Meals are provided or a cash allowance is given for special events and field trips.
