Week-long Event Studies Religious Education Theory and Practice

Join Pittsburgh Theological Seminary Oct. 21-25 for “Religious Education Theory and Practice.” Joyce MacKichan Walker, minister of education at Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton, N.J., will lead the course.

In congregations, our practice of Christian education often overshadows our understanding of, and reflection on, the educational theory that determines and shapes it. In this course participants will reflect on the realities of educational practice in congregations, examine current literature in religious education theory and practice, and determine ways to invite theory to inform educational practice in congregations in order to support and enhance it with quality, relevance, and effectiveness. This course fulfills the religious education theory and practice requirement in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
“Religious Education Theory and Practice” is designed for paid and volunteer educators, professional educators pursuing any of the PC(U.S.A.) certification tracks, educators who wish to consider pursuing educator certification, interested educators from other denominations, and those working in related fields, including preschool and youth directors.

Registration fee is $285. CEUs are available. Contact the Office of Continuing Education at 412-924-1345 or ConEd@pts.edu with questions. Additional information is available online.
