JoAnn Griffith ’59, John S. McMillan Planned Giving Society Member

Growing up in a Presbyterian pastor’s home, JoAnn Griffith ’59 had many opportunities to meet missionaries from around the world. Their stories of living as a witness for Christ among people from different nations led her to become a missionary to Africa. For 40 years JoAnn taught English, Bible, and home economics, while learning to be a “living sacrifice.” “Mission to me,” she explains, “means living out, in a specific geographical context and through a particular task, the command of Christ to be a witness to him. This means struggling, suffering, and enjoying life with others.” Recognizing PTS as a seminary that prepares Christians for such service at home and abroad, JoAnn has included the Seminary in her estate plan.
