With multiple theological degrees, and continued scholarly work in church history and mission, Dr. Sharon Taylor understands the vital importance of being intellectually well-equipped for “equipping the saints.” She also knows the tools the equippers need and how to provide them. So every year, Sharon adds the most relevant and best researched printed and electronic resources to Barbour Library. By doing so, she ensures that our community can develop good biblical-theological thinking, which leads to faithful Christian leadership. 

Ron Tappy, G. Albert Shoemaker Professor of Bible and Archaeology/ Director of the Kelso Bible Lands Museum/ Project Director of The Zeitah Excavations

Ron Tappy furthers the Seminary’s unique and longstanding history of archaeological exploration in the land of the Bible through his excavation of Tel Zayit, Israel. Over the years, many PTS students have joined his international team of volunteers and experts, including the team that discovered the oldest known inscription of the complete Hebrew alphabet, dating to the time of Solomon. Through Ron’s work, biblical history is illuminated for PTS students in and outside the classroom.

John Burgess, James Henry Snowden Professor of Systematic Theology

In 2004, John Burgess began connecting in person with the Church on the opposite side of the globe—Russian Orthodox Christians. Since then he has returned to regularly Russia—most recently as a Fulbright Scholar and Luce Fellow. John is especially interested in discovering what the Russian experience teaches North American scholars about the role of religious revival in shaping national identity. Studying with John has broadened the ecclesiastical horizons of a growing number of PTS students who travel to Russia with him.
