Five PTS Students Earn Scholarships from Presbyterian Foundation

Congratulations to five Pittsburgh Theological Seminary students who have received scholarships from Omaha Presbyterian Seminary Foundation. Prize winners include Brian Lays (distinguished award winner), Susan Blank (Apollos scholar), and Simeon Harrar, Charissa Howe, and Eric Vinsel (ongoing Apollos scholars). These students are enrolled in the master of divinity degree and plan to seek ordination as pastors in the Presbyterian Church (USA) after graduating.

Begun in 1954 to seek, develop, and support excellence in Christian leadership through the PC(USA), The Apollos Program is named after the young man in Acts 18:24-26 who, though fervent in his faith and eloquent in proclaiming the gospel, needed further education. “Fortunately, his friends were compelled to support him and arranged for additional training so that he could teach the Good News with authority,” reads the program’s description of its biblical foundation. The Foundation has awarded more than $2.5 million directly to students.
