Bio
The Rev. Dr. Deirdre King Hainsworth joined the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary faculty in 2005. She earned an A.B. from Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges, and an M.Div. and Ph.D. in Christian social ethics from Princeton Theological Seminary. Before arriving at PTS, Hainsworth served on the religion and philosophy faculty of Friends University, Wichita, Kan. A former church educator and pastor, Hainsworth is ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the United Church of Christ, serves on the UCC’s Science and Technology Network, and frequently teaches in church and denominational settings. She was awarded Wabash Center fellowships in support of her ongoing research and writing on the relation of information technologies and Christian concepts of vocation and public life. Her most recent book, co-edited with Scott Paeth, is Public Theology for a Global Society (Eerdmans, 2010). She is married to John, a computer scientist, and they have two sons.
