The student body at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary is a diverse community; diverse in backgrounds, feelings, concerns, and understandings. Approximately 370, drawn from more than 20 states and several foreign countries are enrolled at the seminary.
Within our masters level student body, you will find students who are in their early 20s who have come to seminary immediately following their undergraduate experience. You will find others who in their middle years of life have answered the call to ministry and have left careers as teachers, attorneys, business people, medical professionals, and other vocations to answer God's call. Still others have come even later in life, choosing to spend part of their retirement years stretching their faith and knowledge of God, and preparing for ministry and service.
We are diverse denominationally as well. While the majority of our students are Presbyterian, our student body also includes many Methodists, Lutherans, United Church of Christ, Episcopalians, Baptists, and other affiliations.
While many students live on campus in seminary housing, others commute from throughout the tri-state area to participate in coursework. Our evening program provides an opportunity for students who must remain in the traditional work force to complete their degree, too.
As the community called by God to be together in this place for this time; we worship, we learn, we struggle, we share, we laugh, we cry, and we grow. This experience lays the foundation for lasting friendships among colleagues in ministry literally around the world.
