At graduation, she was recognized for her outstanding service and academic work at the Seminary through her receipt of prizes for music, homiletics and pastoral care, and church history studies. While fulfilling her first pastoral appointment, Susan felt called to a ministry of teaching. She received a full scholarship to Baylor for her doctoral program.
